cold oil cooler!!

Hello all,i fitted a 19 row oil cooler and... its not getting the slightest bit warm!!.
any ideas?
ps,im using a golf oil filter stand[for the oil feed pipes]
Ta.

Just a thought, did you fit a thermostatic sandwich plate to instal the cooler?

If so maybe the oil just isn't hot enough to open the sandwich plate.

I know nothing about JXs so cant really comment on specifics.

whats an "oil filter stand"?

is it the sandwich plate?

Thanks Rich,i think you may be right[the oilstat is marked 110c] its just that "jx engines" are supposed to run very hot.
Kev, the "oil filter stand includes a oilstat[thermostat].

110 deg c is a bit high ..is that what was recommended?

Kev,yes its too high,i just found out its 110c[80 or 90c would be better],i fitted the part[oil filter stand] on a tip from CJ [Syncrospares] some years ago.
Now the thermostat is nla !!.
ps,its a part that was fitted to mk1 golf's.

yep 85 is a good temp
pressures are well up at that

hi there barry, are you in the uk or spain? if your in the in uk more importantly london area i have a spair thermostatic oil coller take off plate, it came from a volvo but should do the job, stat opens a 85c,

Hi Neil,we're back in Spain,thanks for the offer..ive ordered a thermostat from the USA ,a Porsche one !!
will see if that fixes it.
