Original Westy Eber AUX fuel tank

Post by ninja.turtle007 »

My westy is being converted from petrol to diesel so the original Petrol Eber (B1?) will no longer have a fuel source. I will be replacing this with a D2 in the future but for no could I use an aux fuel tank from a go cart? Could I safely put this under the rear seat?

Something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GO-KART-3LTR- ... 500wt_1413

Does anyone know if the quoted 250ml of fuel used per hour is with the heater running on hot constantly or one that is controlled by a thermostat?

Personally I wouldn't have a source of petrol vapour inside the van especially if you have any electrics such as relays, heaters etc. nearby. Diesel would be a different matter.
The quoted figures are for continuous running normally.
Are you aware that these old heaters don't have a reduced heat function and that by using a thermostat the heater will be continually stopping and starting creating a considerable drain on the battery? (just to forewarn you).

Thanks, I should have bought a D2 a couple of months ago, before they started going for silly money.
