Oil Buzzer (another one)

Post by dooooogle »

Okay. I have a oil buzzer / BOD issue. Iv read the archive forum but not found the same symptoms as I am about to describe. If you know about a topic similar please direct me.

At the weekend I took the van for the trip to the coast. After about 50 miles of motorway we pulled into services. As we slowed in 5th gear the Oil buzzer went off. Clutch in, engine off. Started it back up after a couple of mins and engine was sweet. No buzzer problems

40 Miles later going up a hill we slowed from 60mph to 45mph again in 5th, buzzer went off literally as I went into 4th. The buzzer cut out when I hit 4th and I guess revs picked up. Drove another 200 odd miles below 50mph around country lanes back roads with no problem.

On the way home we hit traffic on the motorway after travelling about 100 miles. Again as the van slowed in 5th the buzzer went off. Hit the hard shoulder, restarted and drove home for another 50 miles with no further incident.

Sump was recently re-tapped with a cut off spark plug. Checked oil level at cold and its just above the high mark on dip stick. Im off on another trip this weekend, so Im going to do an oil change with new filter and oil to see if its a dirty filter (last changed 800 miles ago) and Oil level being too high.

Has this occurred to anyone before. Buzzer does not seem to randomly to go off, was very specific when slowing down from high speed cruising. Any ideas where to start from?

Thanks

Dave

What oil are you using ? Use 4.5 litres of 15/40 MINERAL oil and a Mann oil filter for a known correct starting point.

Ian

P.S. it would help if you told us which engine, year of van etc  I'm assuming you have a petrol van ??

It's a 1.9 DG. I use 15/40 semi-synthetic oil but I'm inclined to think the problem is electrical from other forum posts on this.

Wrong oil for starters.

You still may be right but the oil won't help.
