Just a quickie can i put any room thermostat on a b1l petrol eberspacher as just got a on off switch but want to regulate the temp a bit

I had a mechanical one on a propex for years so if you only have a on off switch then should be fine!

It would only be the same as you switching it on and off manually - these older heaters don't have a reduced heat function so whichever method you use you will be continually restarting the heater with consequent drain upon your battery.
