Post by Holydiver »

Snooze you lose

Was watching a Syncro panel van on ebay and only had 2 days to go with no bids and only £1,500 only to log on yesterday to find it been ended early Did anyone on here buy it and was it a bargin?? Should have been with 6 months tax and almost a years MOT..

I would of ran it for 6 month and then stripped out the running gear and transplanted into the Westy

Missed out this time, I've nagged the Mrs so much she even gave the green light.
You should of heard some of the bull I was coming out with
1. I could help deliver food to the old people in remote area's if it snowed!
2. Jack could learn to drive in it as he's 17 next month.
3. Could under cut the chap I use for delivery's at work.
4. Been wanting a syncro on and off for 3 years now and needed one to get it out of my system.

The list was endless

The guy pulled it off. Speaking to Lee, I think he's going to do it up. Hope he knows how much he will end up spending. Needs VC, rear diff stuck and engine b......d. Plus a fair bit of body work. Over £5K to spend I reckon.

Cheers Rich

van had potential but needed box sorting, vc failed open, front shocks. engine problem. he`s asked me to price things up as he fancies doing it up.

got a feeling it`ll be back up for sale once he realises how much its going to cost.

the body didnt look in bad shape though which is a dman good start.
not like that rusty camper which sold ( then was relisted) for silly money.
the syncro stuff is always going to need catch up maintenance on a 20 year old van, so if you can find one with a good body at that money, its a good start no matter what needs doing.
i was very tempted but need another syncro like a hole in the head.
i just always WANT another syncro. but im sure we are all in the same boat on that one.
i do love a good unadulterated panel van.
( very occasionally i wish i hadnt mated mine with a westy. then i go camping, and remember why i did)

I'll keep looking I'm in no rush I've fancied having one for some 3 yrs or more on and off so can wait a little longer, I would of been happy to strip the box down if it needed it and have a complete spare JX motor so wouldn't of been an issue.
It's the sort of thing I was after a cheap one to cut my teeth to see if it was for me, sometimes the thought of having something is better!! the thing that got me hooked was the fact it was a diesel so could of always transplanted the running gear into the westy and made it one of only 20 ish Atlantic syncro's ???

The dream carrys on for now :!:
