Non-VW dim LCD display :-(
I've got a dab micro hi-fi that is out of warranty. It's got a blue lcd display with black digits. The LCD digits have suddenly gone very dim indeed. I can only just make it out if I squint at various angles.

As an ex - electronics engineer I would say no, not if you have to pay someone to do it. (££'s)
However if you have a steady hand and a methodical approach you may well find you can strip it down and fit new LED's - it's kill or cure really

The backlight part of the display is fine it's just the letters/numbers that are dim.
It's like the contrast setting has been set to low even though there isn't one
