Re: gas fridge left on ?
If the flame were to go out the gas would be shut off by the thermocouple.
I have my fridge operating on gas whilst driving and have never had the gas go out.
You just have to remember to switch it off before entering a fuel station.

Re: gas fridge left on ?
I would see if you can light the fridge without pushing the valve in with the safety bypass circuit

More likely loose regulator on the bottle or leaking pipework. The gas valve can leak on appliances but I would check the pipework and regulator first.

I've left mine running whilst driving plenty of times with no ill effects - and it's never gone out, either.

The only catch would be if there were an accident..ins companies are after any excuse not to pay out

It is by will alone that I set my 'van' in motion!

If the thermocouple was broken the fridge wouldn't stay alight once you let the control knob out after holding it down, gas valves can pass but I'd check all of your pipe work joints first.

It is neither illegal nor contrary to manufacturers instructions.

It would only affect an insurance payout if it could be shown to be a contributory factor in the accident. I don't really see how the temperature of my milk could make me more likely to have a crash.

Re: gas fridge left on ?
I've driven lots of times with my fridge running (usually because I forget to turn it off
), but I find that the fridge doesn't stay cold - I understand that fridge needs to be pretty level for the fridge to work properly, if that's the case then surely its just a waste of gas?

Apparently the older models are not so tolerant of slopes. Mine has never had any problem and I've parked up at some very odd angles!

I'm on the same side as everyone here

I was merely pointing out how insurance companies are in that they look for any excuse not to pay out - look at the who stupid situate with bike exhausts, most of the aftermarket ones actually make the bike run worse yet in an accident the insurance companies wouldn't pay out/would pay less as the bike has an end can on it!
