Fuel pump pushrod

Post by Donald360 »

Still trying to get to the bottom of my fuel/cutting out problems. I have fitted a non return valve to the fuel line to see if that helps. I was wondering if my problem could be to do with the fuel pump. I replaced the old pump about a year ago with a Brickwerks one. However looking at older posts I see that a worn pushrod could cause problems. However, no-one that I can find has mentioned what the correct length should be. Any ideas?

Cheers

Just noticed the replacement pushrod available on JK is 100mm long. Measured mine and find that it is 98.5mm. It's quite cheap, so I think I'll simply replace it.

Check it moves freely in the plastic flange, I had trouble with the push rod sticking (post an overheat event).

It just slots in, rounded end first. Haynes says to pack the plastic insulation piece with grease.

one end goes into the fuel pump - what does the other end slot int?

a previous post from the kev the rev says -
'100 mm is the length of the rod.
Make sure the new pump is well greased and the gaskets are on the right way'

It just pushes against a little arm in the base of the fuel pump. It looks like a little flap. Rich

Fit the plastic guide in place first and the pushrod simply drops into place.
