Main beam not working

Post by Palomino »

On my 89 van (see avatar) I have the usuall square paired front lights plus factory fitted fogs. The sidelights, and headlight beams, including dip and full, are all contained within the larger lense, activated by the headlight switch on the left hand side of the dash and the dip switch. The fogs are on the standard fog lamp switch on the right hand side. However, the inner square lights, described as main beam in the Haynes manual, don't come on at all whatever I press, including the dip switch. Are these an optional extra that aren't connected on my van or are they just not working? If the latter, then surely it would have failed the MoT? but it passed without problems when I bought the van in August.

Any knowledge of this matter gratefully received.

Thanks

Phil

the inner lamps when fitted new have a modified wiring loom , which basically has a set of jumper wires from the outer lamp main /earth wires.

you just need to add these wires to bring it up to oem spec.

Thanks mate. I'll give that a try.
