LT Van syncro style mirrors
Hello all,
I have been trying to find the vw part number for the LT mirror mounting frame that is similar to the syncro one and pretty much (slight mod) fits the T25/T3. I got the mirror and gasket numbers from Wiki but cannot find the mounting frame number? Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Joe

Re: LT Van syncro style mirrors
AS OF 15/11/2011 UPPER PASSENGER SIDE BRACKET 281-857-539A IS NOW OBSOLETE. SO TO MAKE A PAIR YOU WILL HAVE TO SOURCE 2ND HAND. SORRY
Just a heads up if anyone wants some syncro 'style' mirrors that will sit square without having to chop the mirror arm
I've been looking for cheap(er) truck mirrors for ages and I was tipped off by an LT owning friend that the heated larger 4x4 LT mirrors were very cheap ON BACK ORDER from VW. These are the type where the mirror can be pivoted 360 degrees so the mirror sits square even though the arm isn't sqaure to the van
Part Number 291-857-514B £39.74+vat for the right mirror (offside). Comes with the correct bracket gaskets too!
There is no UK stock but the mirrors are available on back order. Ask
However the left nearside mirror 291-857-513B is obsolete.
But the upper nearside bracket (fits T25 syncro mirrors and LT mirrors) 281-857-539A is still available on back order. AS OF 15/11/2011 THIS BRACKET IS NOW OBSOLETE SORRY
So I bought two mirrors and a bracket for a grand total of £86ish trade and swapped the upper mounting bracket on one mirror to make a matching pair
The hole spacing on the lower mount is not the same on an LT. Others have drilled their doors or modified the bracket (I think Gunslinger has https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=58134" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) but I wanted an easy life so I also ordered the T25 syncro mirror bottom bracket via email from Brickwerks who ordered them from Classic parts
251-857-541 x2 £14.32 each = £28.64
So all in it's cost me about £115 for two heated mirrors that look like this (this is Gunslingers non-heated version)
£57.50 each

So to recap
From VW Commercial on back order from germany
291-857-514B x 2
281-857-539A x 1
From Brickwerks who ordered from Classic in Germany
251-857-541 x 2

Just have to fit them now and wire up the heated elements the same as a mate of mine did on his LT

Out of interest, what is the source for the heated mirrors? Always fancied upgrading mine to a heated version..

My LT has a switch just for the heated mirrors. Nothing more fancy than that....

the heated version that looks just like the syncro mirror is
281 857 547 C - Mirror - £21.37....................£14 less than a standard mirror

I assume the wiring comes with them as the syncro style ones seem to be sealed units

Cheers - yes, syncro ones seem to be all glued up, no way to add an after market element.
Re: LT Van syncro style mirrors
Here's the LT mirrors I got. Now with correct T25 bottom brackets

Re: LT Van syncro style mirrors
I hear brickwerks have had a bit of a run on classic orders for the bottom T3 mount bracket
Now that the left side upper bracket 281-857-539A is obsolete (its the same bracket for T3's and LT's) maybe pestering classic parts will get them remade
Pester them here
