Van Juddering and cutting out after driving 200 miles

Hi all

I've got a problem with my Van that just doesn't seem to go away.

I've had it serviced, fuel filter changed, air filter, carb cleaned. We manage to do about 200 or so stress free miles and then the temperature gage goes up and the kangerooing begins. The van starts juddering when I put my foot down to get up a hill or increase the revs, then cuts out when I go under 2000 RPM or so.

I thought it was the mixture running too rich as the MOT emissions brought that up, but that didn't fix it either.

Someone has mentioned spark plugs, some that there may be grit in the tank and someone mentioned something about an air or fuel filter being made of the wrong materials????
Either way, I've already spent £700 on the problem and had 2 garages look at it and I'm now loathed to spend any more on it.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Oh, and any advice on garages in or near bristol would be great. I stopped someone in the street with a lovely T25 and asked them. She mentioned something about a guy called Chris who lives in Clevedon and makes his own parts who is very good, but google doesn't bring much up there! I've already taken it to the guys in Redland, who are a great bunch of people and have done a really good job with my van, they just can't seem to fix this problem....

Hi,

Had a similar sort of problem with mine losing power on long hills, judders, mixture went lean, misfired etc. unless you took your foot of the acceleratro pedal.

Cleand out the carbs / reset the timing / put on a new fuel pump....

Turned out that the fuel pipe had collapsed partially and was restricting the fuel flow into the carb and liftign off would allow the card to refill then the mixture got better etc.

Got hold of some new fuel pipe, replaced the whole length from the fuel tank to the carb, made sure all the other pipes etc were Ok and now pulls much better, no judder / misfire...

might be worth a try. Only took less than an hour to change...
