Just came back from a night in the alps, in October, and of course it was a bit nippy. I bought a little heater, which did the job stood on my coolbox infront of rotated passenger seat.

But of course the heat doesnt really get down to the tailgate end and the pillows get so cold, (boo hoo  )

I did stuff the 2 small roof matresses down there, but they are not wide enough to cover the whole width. Anyone have some ingenious way of keeping warm down there?

otherwise think will have to rotate ourselves or find some more insulation

Ive got double glazing, and a window insulation cover, but want to swap that out for a nice heated window and window wiper anyway.

Ive put insulation, sticky backed foam on the tailgate, but I dont have a tailgate interior cover.

On 2nd thoughts this is the main reason, as the exposed metal is conducting the cold through

will get that sorted first

I have 'double glazed' windows in my high top, but no camper (or motorhome and caravan) has 'double glazing' strictly speaking. It's secondary glazing. Double glazing is an airtight sealed unit with most of the air between the two glass layers removed to eliminate convection currents between the layers thereby dramatically reducing heat loss. Having said that, two layers are still better than one even with the air still in there, and pulling the curtains helps quite a bit too.

Whenever I run the Propex in my van it gets lovely and toasty in the van but it's never made a gnat's difference to the bed being freezing - a couple of good old fashioned water bottles part filled from the kettle thrown in there 10 minutes before you get in would probably make an appreciable difference.

Head to tailgate. Did try feet to talegate once. Never again bed colasped and sprained one of the connecting arms that allow it to hinge :rofl

Ken

Similar mentality here, although mine is more about 'one last beer' from the fridge at night ;)
