Started to cut away some of the rot, luckily it only seemed to be rusty at the base of the step so should be a simple plate in the bottom and weld in? Jon.
(Give me a chance Mike) :D

This piece should do nicely for the base of the step. Jon.

Well I did think if I was to seal it all up both sides and look after it then it shouldn't rot again. Seen quite a few with holes in so thought it must be quite common. Jon.

Next job was to repair the rusty window edges. After a clean down with the grinder the edges didn't look quite so bad. Jon.

you were lucky there was enough to weld to the way you done it. must be lots of jam in lancs!
as jim says . forget the holes, if you want the step rubber then fit flat rubber and bond it on

Next we made a few pieces (6 in total) to fill the gaps. Fortunately the corners were OK. My inexperience in cutting metal struggled cutting corner pieces last time, so happy days :D Jon.

After grinding back it looked pretty smooth, maybe a bit of filler needed. Then vactan applied. Jon.
