Hi guys
Got a few things I want done. Namely Cam-Belt, Throttle spindle seal and oil+filter change. I don't have anywhere or the tools to do these jobs myself, and would rather take them to someone who knows JX engine's well.
Can't find anyone local so far, they're either T4 onwards, T2 backwards, Air cooled only, Hot milk only or Horlicks with no sugar. But no one 1990' Watercooled with 2 spoons of diesel leaking out my throttle every minute.
Anyone know any people in the Exeter region? The chap who used to do the van was down in Torquay, but I'm hoping for something closer.
Thanks!
tom

Hello,
technically diesels don't have throttles - sounds like what you need is an injector pump rebuild. If you're doing the cambelt, then it's worth doing this at the same time, but I wonder if you'd be better off trying to source a good second hand pump - it's hard to know what's wrong with a leaking pump until you dismantle it - could be a seal or could be worse.
Doing a cambelt change, replacing the IP and doing an oil+filter service should be doable by any decent garage if you ask me - wouldn't have to be T25 specific, so perhaps it would be worth asking locally for a good general mechanic.
Sorry I can't recommend anywhere personally, but hopefully someone more local might be able to recommend somewhere

Re: Local T25 TD experts?
The throttle spindle where the cable attaches. It has a seal that's leaking. quite common with diesels. Apparently the new low-sulphur fuel stops them getting lubricated. They're a few quid on brickwerks but I'm not touching the pump assembly, that's why I don't want a random mechanic buggerinng it up. I'd rather not a new pump!
Yeah I want it all done at once, just prefer a JX man as they'll know the engine and might have the locking tools for the belt change.
thanks

It only leaks when cold. very likely to be spindle-seal. It expands when hot and stops the leak

the tools are pretty common I'd say - I have a set myself. I'm sure you're right about the seal - hope you get it sorted.
