square headlights to south african twin headlights

Post by lloydy »

if i was to change from my square headlights to the south african type, is it a straight swap? I know i will need to get the outer rounds, inners seem to be included. Are the mounts and loom connectors the same?
:idea Anyone want to swap?

Not sure but I might be interested in a straight swop though as it's the first thing that went through my head when I went to view my bus. Hopefully some one can point us in the right direction. Can I ask why you want to swop?

Only problem is your in Surrey & I'm in Leicestershire...

Keep out titus!
I'm thinking of changing, because I like change and I like the SA headlights.
From what I have found out, they do swap over, but you need to bend a mounting tab back

UNLESS your van left the factory with the superior squares  then you won't have the tab to bend back

I've heard the SA headlights are pretty good, plus I think they suit a syncro. I'm sure I'll get a pair, maybe Soon.....Just have to get outer rounds which bumps the price up

Mines an E reg Caravelle 1986. Did they come with squares from the factory. I assumed it was vans built in the 90's...

No idea. Take off your grill and look if you have a bent back tabs as in my picture.

Some vans may have been converted to square lights by a caveman who hacked off these tabs so you may just have a rough a*** stump. if there is no sign of them then your van left the factory with square lights.

Image

The tabs are there for securing the 2nd and 4th grill pin screw when putting the grill on. One square light setups this anchor point is on the light backing frame
