What's a T.C.I. UNIT ?

Hi there....currently having on-going problems with my van...2.1 petrol injection 1989...and Aiden (another club member) has suggested it could be the T.C.I. unit. Without wishing to sound ignorant..which I slightly am in these matters...what is a T.C.I. unit ? Many thanks in advance....warge
