Hi, i have managed to get hold of a diesel rev counter to fit in place of my clock in the dash pod.
Sooo, from what i understand the dash end of it is a straight swap with no wiring alterations needed. The engine end, will i find the wire for the tacho in the loom somewhere? And then just extend it to the W terminal on alternator?
If the wire is in the loom, where will i find it? If it isn't what have people done to solve this.
Year of van is 1990, if that makes a difference and is a syncro
thanks, Lloyd

Pretty sure the wire for the W terminal was either hanging round near the blue or already connected. Red and white wire from memory.

Re: fitting diesel rev counter
i got a blue wire and a red/black wire already attached to the alternator with a little plug (AAZ alternator) So looks like i should just be able to swap clock for tacho and not have to do anything else

Re: fitting diesel rev counter
Looks like I need the rev counter dash pod, can't see it working otherwise

Re: fitting diesel rev counter
dash pcb is different
wires are all in place as the oil buzzer uses rpm signal
you need ideally a complete dash pod.
clock pod has a adjuster hole for the clock hands .
you can live with this , but you will need a tacho pcb , and a diesel one.
or some dodgy wiring is needed!

Re: fitting diesel rev counter
Thanks for that. Question then, i have a diesel rev counter on it's own and obviously have my diesel dash pod with speedo/clock. If i got myself a petrol rev counter dash pod and put my speedo and spare rev counter would it work? or are the pcb's petrol/diesel specific?
thanks, lloyd

pcb's are specific to fuel, no glow plug led or connections on a petrol
