Metal micky's thread is as per usual very helpful, the youtube vid and the wicki are superb!!

To repair the area that normally rusts should I get a schofields panel or construct my own? pros, cons etc?
Can it be pieced or better using one full piece?

Any ideas welcome. :ok

johnny, buy a schoey panal, they are a good fit and fair quality , saves a lot of time, not a perfect replica but well enough for everyday use, just watch you dont burn the wiring behind the panal and infront of the steering coloumb.

Thanks for the advice there Mike, think I will buy that panel from Schofields.

I will grab some pictures today Jimpainter. Only just shuftied the van over yesterday (on a 3T jack) very new to me, was cautious to say the least. Can now work on the front and offside. :ok

Your doing well with the work mate. Cant comment on the schofeilds panels myself. You may not need a complete panel, but then again maybe its easir just to replace the lot anyway. :ok

for what they cost jim they are quite good and cover the whole length of the front, and have the correct curve, could always cut them short which is better than the other way round.... they also have the inner lip spotted on so worth using,IMHO

Strangeley i havent had to do anything on the front of any vans yet. Even the blunderbus is solid around that area. But thanks for the heads up. :ok

Cheers Jim :ok

I'd have bought the panel by now but the fecking dentist has cost me £100 this week ouch!!

Mike you read my mind, I was wondering how long the panel was as mine looks like it will need the full width replacing.

Got the van back on wheels and down to earth again. Looks like a van again :) after 6 months wheeless and floating on axel stands.

Pics of the rotten area to follow.
