does your fridge work?

Post by Libby »

Hi, 18 months an owner and new member and it's taken me this long to ask all my queries! My 1988 pop top with Holdsworth interior has a fridge that refuses to work. just met an identical owner at Treen Farm in Cornwall (brill site), and they had the same problem. There is an empty hole on the dash below the music which says fridge button, but no button is there.
Also my only other problem is it has a leak when it rains, I think from the front right window seal, as the water collects under the rubber matting. Would welcome any comments as maybe it's a common problem, I don't want to let a garage spending hours looking!

not sure about your fridge but the water under the carpet sound like it comes from the widscreen, a common prob with these vans. have a look at the wiki at the top of the page. enjoy your holls.

The screen frame rots under the seal over time. It means the screen has to come out ans the frame repaired, then screen back in.

Don't waste your money on a justkampers screen seal though. Get a genuine one from http://www.volkswagenemporium.co.uk/type25parts.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - £30

I don't really understand what you mean there. I'm guessing that someone fitted a manual switch below the radio console to run the fridge off 12v whilst the vehicle is being driven which has since been removed - possibly to fit an automatic relay system. Have you run the fridge off the gas and the 240v mains side of things?

Thanks for your offer, I'm in Poole though! hope to find some local enthusiasts as well. the fridge didn't work on leccy either. I guess I won't need to worry about it now til next spring, apart from the leak, but it never rains in Poole, always sunny !
