Be wary of Bosch 096 batteries
Just been to buy a Bosch 096 battery which they state is 175mm high so should fit our vans. It looked big to me so we measured it and it is actually 190mm high. The guy in GSF checked the spec and Bosch clearly state 175.
He has suggested a Bosch type 100 which he will get in for me and we will measure it (as Bosch state that is 175mm)
Coincidentally my old battery is labelled Type 100.

Re: Be wary of Bosch 096 batteries
This has always been a problem with 096 batteries some are 175 and others are 190. Something gets lost in the conversion from continental sizes to UK codes.
The equivalent Bosch battery is a 6E but the Bosch silver batteries are really over specced for our charging systems as they are designed for newer cars with higher voltage charging systems, not much point in buying a 65ah battery and only running it a 60ah.

So are you saying that it will not charge properly because our charging systems are not up to it or if I can still get one at a good price is it worth it?
I have been quoted £52 + vat for a Bosch 100. sounded quite good to me but then what do i know?

Any suggestions for a quality, yet inexpensive start battery Kev ? Think mines on the way out!

Just bought a 067/096 starter battery (not Bosch though) from Alpha Batteries but it was £5 cheaper on their ebay shop rather than via their own website, which I thought was a bit odd!

065 is the correct battery, 096 never was anyway.
