Centre rear 3-point seatbelts

Post by smokeyjon »

OK OK I know seatbelts have been covered alot here before, but I've searched and I can't find what I'm looking for. If there are threads that you can point me to I'd be grateful!

The brickwerks 3-point belt looks like an option for my nearside, but I have a 3/4 rnr, and was wondering if anyone had fitted a 3-pointer to the 'middle' position next to the wardrobe. I was wondering whether there was scope to use one of those fully retractable 3-point belts (where you clip in one side and then the next) with the reel mounted to the top rail at the top of the tailgate opening. I've seen them on Renault Clios but wondered if anyone had either done this already or knows of any vehicles that have this type of seatbelt in a LONG version to help guide my scrapheap challenge.

Any thoughts welcome... cheers.

Oh, and if I'm going to the scrappers anyway, any suggestions for long 3-pointers to help me save the £80 on a new one would also be welcome...

I don't know of local scrappers that just let you ferret around these days, so it makes it a bit trickier!

My old Citroen Picasso had one of those middle belts and it was really long - god knows how you'd fit it though..

Cheers Trucker that's useful to know. At least I've got something to look at now to see whether it could be fitted or not!
Was it like this one?

If so it looks as though the reel is still mounted in the side panel down below - I guess I was hoping that it was bolted up top somewhere. If I mounted it like that it would need to be REALLY long and would probably foul up my cupboards in the process...

Cheers Mig, I shall take a look (there's one on ebay locally, so maybe he'll be able to show me the part and the car it came out of)

I have one fitted to my rear seat in the middle. I called a seat belt manufacture, they made me one, all we had to do is weld in a plate with a nut in to the roof of the van. it clips in to one side then in to the other to form 3 point belt. When not in use it all sits up in the roof. It cost about £80 in total.

That's exactly what I was after blue str. Is the plate welded into the box section above the tailgate? Any chance of a pic and the seatbelt manufacturer's details? Cheers
