T3 [With T4 engine] Battery + Altenator question

My T25 has been running fine for the last 18 months since the T4 1.7D engine conversion. [I don’t use my VW T3 much like once a week but not long distances].....So I changed the alternator 2 months ago died on route 2 weeks ago , was running for over 2 hrs with lights on. The issue pointed to the alternator as the output wasn’t bring my battery up to 14v fast enough or its out put wasn’t high enough. Anyway it happened again with the new alternator [t3 replayment part] . The questions I have before going to buying a battery is the following: Would there be any difference or concerns between the alternator and the battery of a T3 1.7D and a T4 1.7D? If its the battery issue [which I think it is] what would be a good high quality one? Thank you.
