I have just checked mine from this weekends Pikey meet, I managed 22mpg - better than I expected - cruised down at 60-65mph, on the way back keeping up with a Subaru powered hit about 75mph for about 15 miles but again the rest about 60-65.
I am going down the LPG route - I know what your saying about uncertainty of the price, but IMO it will never get near unleaded prices, but as others say, cleaner and better/smoother running. My BMW paid itself back in 4 months!!!!! I guestimate the bus will pay off in about 8 to 12 months.

Never heard that on flat four engines mate... which engine was it?
I have had mine in for over five years without one single issue.

oh this was an american truck, seven litre thing. never had any experience of flat fours on lpg but would be interested in looking into it.

Just updating this thread a year on.

I think I have been getting about 30 mpg from my 2.1DJ. I put lots of stuff into a spreadsheet and used best guesses for the percentage of fuel I have used (using the fuel gauge, inc. small top up values). One journey was from Norfolk to the south-east, one to mid Wales and back and around Bristol in traffic. Both were a mix of urban and fast long stretches, motorways not making up more than half of the distance covered. the van was well-laden on the first trip, and there were two adults and a child on both journeys.

My T25 is a Holdsworth Villa hightop with a 7000-mile old recon engine. I have replaced the air filter for a K&N (expensive), replaced the spark plugs and regularly use a fuel additive for 'cleaning' (can't remember what it's called - Asda sell it for £2 every so often). I use high-octane petrol (unless I'm stuck). I keep the tyre pressures right. I don't go over 60 mph.

A word to the wise, Be careful, my new twinslidder's from Bristol area.
PO spent £3000 plus recon engine at 3 Bristol garages & it still didn't run right.

The absence of any posts complaining about LPG in a T3 is all the proof you need

I've mentioned this before .... But going from 14" wheels to 16" has ment that I sit at 3k rpm most of the time with a good bit in reserve to pass.. Surly that has to help mpg!!! Also on a DJ..

your rim diameter is variable yes ... but the overall diameter is a specified amount, and should not exceed or be less than 654mm

No complaints! when I first had mine converted I could get LPG for 33p a litre, now It's 70p!, that's something to complain about

I don't understand??.... Surly if I'm doing the same speed for less revs I'm using less fuel???
