2.0 Aircooled backfiring when cold
Got a bit of a problem with my T25. Runs fine when warm but backfires and judders when cold. Have recently changed leads , plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm.
I'm wondering whether this is likely to be an electrical or carb problem.
Be grateful for any suggestions.
Cheers

has your thermostat failed and the van is in the fail safe position with the flaps? wouldnt cause all your probs but it can make it awkward to warm up.

No don't think so - I recently fixed the thermostat

was it running fine before you changed the bits?

I've only just changed dizzy cap and rotor -other things were changed few months back. But no it had the same problems prior to the latest changes

Electric chokes functioning/set right? Central idle system enrichment device working?
Possibly low float height failing to provide sufficient fuel level? But if it runs Ok at high speed that's rather less likely.

Thanks for all the replies. In the end it was one of the vacuum pipes that fits onto the top of the airbox - the end had split. Its amazing what a difference this can make.
I drove the van from Bristol to Manchester and back on Weds and it went fine.
Incidentally my thermostat had stopped working a while back - the cable had snapped. Just used a bike brake cable to fix it
