New plug leads very tight.

Post by California Dreamin »

Just brought a set of 'German' quality..or at least that's what shaun said...lead set from GSF..correct part number for a watercooled 1.9/2.1 only trouble is...the longest of the leads has to be pulled taught to make it reach the right side rear plug.
I ended up returning the set and swapping it for one from a Golf where I was able to use 3 from the 5 leads (I've had to re-use the two longer leads going to the right hand cylinder head..as you look at it from the rear)
I know I could have waited but my engine was running on 3 and I'm off on the Pikey tomorrow so didn't really have much choice.

I have known Shaun for over 20 years and trust what he says: he thought that because my van is effectively an import (89 California with a 2.1 MV engine) that somehow this possibly makes a difference to lead length.....
Anyone else had problems with lead sets not being long enough for the right bank?

My dog nearly choked to death.
Martin.

Diesel is an engine not a fuel.

I liked camping so much I went full time.

Rob...well thats what I thought..the distributor drive and plugs are all in the same place...I can perhaps understand that wouldn't apply to the king lead as the coil mounting position can vary but the leads themselves.....
Anyway sorted but slightly annoyed at paying for a set of leads but only being able to use 3 out of the 5....ah well.
Just be my luck for one of the two old leads to play up now

Mart...you know Michelle too well! she always has me on a tight lead.....
