2.1 dj difficulties
Had some problems recently with tickover and stalling etc. I put a new idle control valve on and as it wasn't buzzing and no difference. After searching through all the earths and remaking them etc things have got worse. Now it will run only on lpg with a high tickover and not at all on petrol. It seems to be the iscu as i'm seeing 12v on pin 1 but no 5v anywhere. Any ideas, I have bentley and have done the tests and it looks like the iscu is furbarred. Where can you get them from now. Am taking to local vwt25 knowledgable garage soon to have warrenty JP stainless exhaust part fitted , so maybe they will have some experience of these problems. Any tips on evaluating welcome

Put the old idle control valve then check that you have no air leaks (bit of brake cleaner near the joints). I put on a new Idle control valve on my VR6 and it turned out the new valve was stuffed.

Those german ecu's look expensive, I've got a spare air control meter got it from usa a few years ago. I'll try a few more tests and earthing points before I lash out! Cheers for the replies, all this electronic stuff drives you up the wall.

I think the number should be #025906021F. CLICK If so there are 4 for sale on E Bay.de. I dont think they are expensive but they might be next year .......
There is another number - #025906021E but that one is for an automatic set up.

Re: 2.1 dj difficulties
Ray, have you had a look at your throttle body. When they wear out they let more air through than they should, and it becomes difficult to reduce the tickover speed enough. Mine is a 1/4 turn away from being as slow as it can be, so is nearly fubarred.
If it was worn, then it would be fine at full throttle, but no good around tickover.
Have you tested the throttle switch also? this turns off and on the ISCU.
If the tickover is wrong, then the vacuum for the dizzy might not be spot on.
Just a thought.
Simon.

Re: 2.1 dj difficulties
Thanks for all your helpful replies, turns out not iscu after all. I have been going through all the earth connections but had missed one and that was on the lpg solenoid. It seems connected to that area of petrol injectors etc. Anyway all running smoothly now on lpg and petrol. whatever is that Iv'd done I have a pretty good idea of the electrical circuits now! Perhaps my wife will see me again now after a week with my head stuck in the engine compartment!
