Just rebuilt 1600 CT with 1641 barrels, Engine starts and runs OK, only problem is chuffing noise when using throttle.
Was told not to use cylinder head gaskets. Rub barrels into heads (with grinding paste), is all you need to do.
Wondering if re-torquing heads might cure problem.
Heat exchanger on one side is hot,(unable to hold onto with bare hand) other side is a lot cooler.
golfingtam.

Re: Engine chuffing
Hello,
Re torquing always needed (say) 200 miles after rebuild.
Check compressions first.
Happy CT ing!!
