Headlights and Fan blower Gremlins....

Post by pocolow »

Here's a funny one . Had the dash out to fit a new fan blower and after the new fan was fitted all was working fine as should, as too were all the other switches ect. But today I switched the lights on and the dash iluminated but no side or headlights and the main beam light was on and the dim dip switch did nothing.. Also here's the funny thing. With ignition off but the light switch on (no lights though) there is power to the fan blower which works on all three speeds??????....What the blithering heck is going on here then....Any ideas?

Being having a fettle, all earths appear ok. Still no lights on side or headlight, but the blue main beam warning light is always on and the column main beam /dip switch don't work. However switch the lights off and the column main beam/dip switch works.. :? :? ...Could the main light switch be at fault, though this was replaced last year with one from brickwerks.....Here's the funny bit, everything started working again fine and I have no idea what fixed it   ...Help please as I don't want to loose the lights again at night...any ideas???

Hi ,Possible long shot but I had very strange things happen with lights/dash board on an old peugoet I once owned spent ages trying to figure out where the short had occurred or what the problem was ...turned out to be a bulb that was duff!!!!!!! could try removing bulbs one at a time and see if there is any improvement.

in your fuse box, there is a relay , which stops the power going to anything other than the ignition system and the starter motor when you are cranking the engine over
its a long shot, but it maybe that at fault.
Its called "X contact" and is relay numbered 24 i think. Part number could be 191 637 503
depending on year.

it could also be ignition switch.
