Double front seat

Post by nedkelly113 »

Hi
I was wondering if i anyone could give me some advice on a double front seat. At the mo I have an '81 A/C walkthrough, but I have another nipper on the way so will need an extra seat and I thought the double seat in the front made the most sense. I would like to know if I need to put a full length bar between the posts to support it, is it possible to have two 3 point belts on the seat, and will there be clearance for the handbrake? Any advice will be gratefully received.
Oh and does anyone know where I could find one? Been trawling the net but no joy.
Thanks
Ned

I have a double seat in mine. I have a 3 point belt nearest the door and a lap belt in the middle, although you may be able to mod something from the newer people carries that have 3 point belts in the middle seats.
As for a bar across i dont have that, i have a piece of plate welded across the seat from the bottom to the back (hope that makes sense). That seems to be plenty of support. :ok

Thanks for that.
Do you mean a plate under the runners extending out for the extra seat? I looked at old threads and it mentioned a support bracket beside the handbrake. Does the plate do away with the need for that? And what thickness plate did you go for?
Sorry for all the questions.

If you look at the seat from the side the plate goes from the bottom arrow across to the back arrow. The plate is probably 4mm thick and about 15cm wide.
I hope that makes more sense.
