Mechanic - Coventry

Post by paulheywood »

Just come back from two days in the Peak District with the van... and now with four weeks to go till the next trip it gives me a bit of time to sort a few things out...

So the question is : Who do you trust with your bus in the Coventry area ? I'm not interested in major rebuild stuff just the odd job that I might not want to risk myself.... fuel lines, maybe the addition of a fuel solenoid stuff like that.

Cheers,

Paul.

Ah - well theres S&T on Stoney Stanton Road (First turning before Saint Pauls Road) - its a mini industrial estate. If it minor things - get in touch as I'm already helping ChickenKoop and have years of experience with these VWs.

MercDoctor leant more towards T25s over time (influenced by his other half I think he said). He's a nice fella and very helpful.

As for comments about S&T - I can't say I've experienced any 'bodge' work myself and besides its very unwise to publish such comments - particularly when they'll often point people to MercDoctor anyway. You may have had a bad experience but it doesn't follow that everyone has. Been great with me and often done odds and ends for me. Marcus is a nice fella though - one pays ones money and takes ones choice - as they say. I tend to favour MercDoctor - not because I dislike S&T but because he has enthusiasm I guess and concentrates on T25s whereas S&T do Audi/VW as a whole.

MercDoctor can be found next to the mosque just after Edgwick Road off Cross Road (not far from S&T actually).

Anyway, more to the point, just WHEN are the Coventry T25 lot gonna meet up? ChickenKoop and I keep wondering....

I was just taking the pish, Mercus is one of the few people in the country I'd be more than happy to trust with my van. As it is I have to use locals who I don't trust :(

As Euan says, I would trust Marcus any day with our van.

He reads a bit like Ebay feedback:

*** Cant Rate High enough, Highly Recomended***

And look its 100% positive.

I used to work at GSF and occasionally delivered to S&T and once whitnessed his attempts to fix a leaking head gasket on 1.9dg engine  Wont say anymore.
Bought a 2.1 panel van off him before I saw this, can only be described as as shed, the Golf he told my missus was a one owner car, yeah it had had 7!
He would never take my hard earned ever again!

Im lucky enough not to have to have mechianical repairs done by others cus I can do it myself, but Im a
always gonna try and stop people being ripped off by bodgers.
Nuff said.

The Grange Garage is tops

Post by vwstanley66 »

The Grange Garage opposite, Grange PUb, Alfall Road I think in Soke, Coventry is a regular back street garage that will work on vans at a competative rate. Top place for MOT's too. I needed some welding on van for the mot, they just charged £20 extra. My missus discovered the place about 10 years ago. If you dont use them for work at least try their mot's.
Their number is 024 76452 694.
