RJES Exhaust, loud? Alternatives?

Post by rollercoaster »

Dont quite know how to ask this ...as its a matter of opinion,
so I can only ask for some opinions..

I need to replace the exhaust on my 2.2 Subaru engined Syncro,
and top option seems to be the RJES system.
Quality engeneered, with excellent customer service, hard to beat.
I am using the RJES bellhousing and crossmember so it will fit.

Richard says it is "quite loud" and that gives me fair warning.
My last system (Longlife) I would have said was "loud".. so it may be an improvement..
I wouldnt mind a quiet one, but a throughty burble I could live with too.

Can anyone give me some feedback please, who either uses or listens to one.

Or alternative suggestions are welcome too, thanks.

syncroandy has used the standard 2.1 back box, so it looks like a normal van from the back, best to call or pm him about his set up, it has lost the wbx chatter and sounds fruity when he gives it the beans,

I have Richards exhaust on my syncro, and would describe it as fairly loud. It has quietened a little since first fitting. Cruising around country roads no problem, but it can be a bit tiring on the motorway at 70mph. Sounds good though!

I had my one made up and it is probably as noisy as the old mild steel monstrosity despite having an extra muffler. The tone however is not as tiresome on the motorway. Why not find a reputable exhaust guy and get one made up from stainless. Worth checking that they use stainless welding wire otherwise you'll find the welds rot out and the pipes are still good.
Cheers

James has a RJES one, went past me the other month in town.......Sounded lovely. 8)
He says it is tiring on Motorways though. Guess you can't have both.
