Westy 16" Syncro Hi-Top ?

Post by flynny »

Hi Guys
It's been a while since I posted anything on here. I moved to a T4 Syncro :shock: after having a T25 Syncro Multivan and a SA Syncro with a medium high roof.
As my partner is suffering a little due to Ill health we are after a van similar to the one that gave us the most pleasure we ever had, an Aircooled Westy Joker high roof, but here's my question as we wany to stay with 4WD, did Westfalia ever do a 16" high top syncro and if so just how rare are they.
I have looked at the Tischer Syncro on Mike's site and Mobile.de and whilst it's very rare I feel that it looks a tad tired for the £20k plus asking price. (please don't shoot me down in flames it's only an opinion)
Also would there be any other 4x4 options. LT Crafter etc
Best Regards
Flynny

Hi, one here https://club8090.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=92760" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And here http://suchen.mobile.de/fahrzeuge/detai ... abNumber=2" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I also have a westy 16" multivan potop that I might let go for that sort of money :lol: I would need a lot of convincing though!

Cheers
So they are about and the one on Mobile .de is sensible in comparison, not cheap. I should have said that I'd seen the one for 32k euro, thanks but no thanks. Thing is we need the Hi roof as the overall layout suits us and it's warmer than the pop top.
I once saw one that Syncronutz built what did that sell for?
regards

Hi
I thought about that, not many hi top's like the ones on the Westy around unless you know otherwise, also most of the other hi tops offer only increased headroom not sleeping space. I've followed your trips on the T$ forum
check out the build thread.

Why does it need to be a 16?

If you'll go 14 you'll open up a world more options on availability and also save yourself money when it goes wrong in future...

This is my dads syncro T4, he started out with a pop top but converted to hightop.

Its an SCA double skinned roof fitted by Concept Multi Car. http://www.conceptmulti-car.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They have done two roofs for the family, and both have been exemplary.

The parts prices for the 16" are not too disimilar than for a 14" and having the right sized wheels is well worth the extra money.

They are right straight from the factory, no mods required, everything sorted and worked out by VW.

there are a few 16" specific parts that are difficult to get and pricey when found. if you`ve got to have a 16" westy then you`ll need patience, luck and money on your side. finding a nice 14" will be a challange and buy on condition not age or model.

one thing to note with the origonal westy high tops is there are a quite a few now that have rotted the roof panel out. horrendous job to repair and very, very hidden from view.

Rico did (does?) high-tops for the t4, seen a few pass through here in summer. There's also a factory high-top, but only on vans i think no campers that i have seen.
Current vans: 1990 Syncro TD "Smily"
Ex vans: 1989 caravelle coach TD 5-speed, 87 DoKa Syncro
