Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Its quiet in here lol. Todays job completed, replaced my fuel pump. There was one of those after market electric pumps on when I bought Flint, and it made an annoying ticking/clicking sound which was louder than the engine. The old petrol pump was in situ. Removed the old pump easy enough but the pedestal needed some persuasion, but finally manage to remove it without breaking it.
Hardest, and most time consuming with the above job was removing the old gaskets. Possibly original items/pump too.

I bought a set (3) of steel paint scrapers, the smallest being 20mm and the widest being 40mm, in Aldi a year or two back. Very handy they are cuz of their size.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Other two tryes arrived, and they will be fitted tomorrow all being well.

Fitted relays .99, and .292 so I now have a lights on buzzer, thanks BALDY3260 - I will get paypal payment to you as soon as I can mate, the relays work a treat, with thanks to everyone who helped in the wiki which was very very helpful also

Took Flint to our summer house to wash him, as its illegal here to wash your vehicle on the street.

Had a BBQ, and took in the beautiful view.

Then had a sauna before heading home. Tried a spot of body colour restorer type stuff on the front upper panel, and quite impressed with the results. Next job is to clean windows, and rubbers. Found two areas that need attention, so looks like the rear glass, and rear side glass need to come out to repair the rust that has formed.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Well, we had a break in the weather so off I popped to the garage that quoted me the €70 Euros to change my tyres over for me, armed with my new tyres purchased online at a saving of a few hundred Euros
but upon arriving, and heading to the office, I was told, that will be €140 sir! I was like What? And you want me to remove the wheels too? They said yes> So I left.

On the way back home, I recall seeing a small tyre shop, which reminded me of an old friends workshop when I lived back in the UK, he used to be a tire fitter (Started from his back garden, and progressed into a successful business). Popped in there, and the guy said, €60 Euros, and we will take the wheels off, swap your tyres over, adding new valves, and balancing, then refitting after a clean and do you fancy a coffee the owner said. We had a coffee, while his employees did a grand job, so happy days!

Fitted my new vacuum hoses, well, all but one, ran out, so need to buy another 2 metres.

I also discovered a air filter hose fell apart as I removed it to gain access to the air intake vacuum hose area..

Will order a new one from Brickwerks. If anyone else should need one, you can get them here..
http://www.brickwerks.co.uk/index.php?p ... t&Itemid=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I next plan on replacing the ht leads I have fitted, as Im experiencing misfiring now and again, and when refitting the VW pin type ht leads, no misfiring, so will get a new set of the OEM ones.

New correct HT leads now fitted...

Latest purchases..
Sticker remover blade, and label off spray (There are several window stickers I will be removing soon, then cleaning the inside glass.
Black paint to spray replacement sliding door exterior handle.
Sandpaper to prep said handle
Tin of Rust treatment/protection for wishbones etc
Rubber protection stick (For treating door seals ready for the winter, also prolongs their life too, which is a good thing considering how expensive they are to replace.

Just finished prepping the sliding door replacement exterior door handle ready to paint now.

Once done, will be a case of removing old, broken handle, swapping the barrel over, then refit
E D I T - First coat done

Just taken delivery of 10ltrs of G12+ Pink Antifreeze, 8 litres of which will be going in Flint after draining out 8 litres of water this weekend. Temperatures are already hitting the cold size here, and will be reaching a low of -35 by end of the year.

Also just taken delivery of my latest Brickwerks parts

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Fitted a few parts today, and here are some reference photos, before and after style..
New verses old rotor arms

Old Dizzy Cap

New Shielded Dizzy Cap

Old Oil Tower Breather pipe (Was very very soft, and contaminated).

New Silicon Brickwerks replacement.

Old Airbox to Cyclone air pipe (Insulation tape was a temp fix lol).

New Silicon Brickwerks replacement.

After renewing the above parts, I proceeded to start the engine after flicking the gas pedal to activate the choke. Left the choke running for a few minutes, then tried to let the engine idel, but sadly it stalled. I have the Brickwerks choke pulldown kit to fit, which may fix this issue? Not sure how to fit it though, so any help would be appreciated.
After manually holding the revs aroun 2k rpm for a couple of minutes, then releasing, the engine ticked over fine, but there is still a slight hesitation, so still need to investigate a possible air leak on the carb somewhere.

Re: Meet Flintstone, our 1992 1.9 Petrol Caravelle Syncro
Well, seeing as it was a dry day, although very very windy, I set about changing my low oil pressure sensor.
Got under the bus, dust being blown into my face with the winds howling, managed to get the two 13mm bolts out, and the top left bracket had rusted away so that was clear, however, the right hand upper attachment to the push rod cover was going nowhere, the nut had perished, and it just wouldn't break away, so had to call it a day until I buy myself a pair of sheet metal cutters. Once I have those, I will cut the top left bracket off, as the two lower 13mm bolts should hold the cover in place afterwards ok.
