1600 TD JX Glow plug wiring.
Hello Hope one of you can give me a bit of info. At the back of my JX engine is a yellow conecter with a blue and white wire through to it. It seems to disconect the glow plug heat sensor and also the timing relay so the plugs come on every time the ignition is turned on, whether the engine is hot or cold, it also seem to disable the timer as the glow plugs stay on till the starter motor is engaged am i correct so far? Why is there a conector there anyway? And does leaving it diconected do any harm. What i am looking to do is have a bit of glow plug every time i start as it is a bit slow to start from hot and a bit of glow plug sorts this. Thanks Simon C.

Don't disconnect it altogether, put a 470 ohm or 600 ohm resistor (from Maplins etc?) in the wire. The glow plug relay will then be active for a bout four seconds with the engine warm.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Thank you for that i will try it. Do you know if i will still get the full glow plug time when the engine is cold. Simon C.

Electrically, it doesn't have to be any particular wattage, but should be robust enough to stand up to the environment (so that means something like a 1 watt resistor). What I do is to solder a flylead on each end and double them both back over the resistor body, then tape it all up or shrink some sleeving over the lot. Then I solder a male and a female blade connector so it can be connected in the circuit. Then zip tie it to the wiring loom.
Oh.... and when the engine is cold, the glow time will be slightly extended, but you won't notice much difference.
