G12+ ROWE ANTIFREEZE - Anyone use this? Any good?

Post by Mickyfin »

I originally planned on buying 6 x 1.5ltr bottles of G12 Antifreeze from Brickwerks, as I had a few other parts already planned to purchase from Simon, but due to the weight, shipping came to more then the actual purchase price, so I have been looking for an alternative on the antifreeze front.

I came across this on eBay.de.

ROWE ANTIFREEZE

Two of the above 5ltr containers shipped would save me over £50 in shipping costs, so my question is, does anyone use this stuff?

Would the above be ok in my bus? It does state G12+, and is the Violet colour.

Thanks in advance!

I doubt you will find anyone on here who has used this specific product but that's not to say it isn't suitable.
If it states G12+ specification then it will be absolutely fine...the purists on here will always point you towards VW's own product range but what they fail to realize is that just like other manufacturers VW do not make alot of there own fluids.
Without actually seeing the label myself....this looks like a modern OAT (organo acid technology) long life antifreeze that meets VW G12+ spec.....so my advice is to go for it!

So it was a no brainer really come the end of today.

Code: Select all

Local VW -------------------------------------------6 x 1.5ltrs of G12++  €79.80 Euros

Brickwerks ------€49.35 + €69.04 Shipping-------------6 x 1.5ltrs of G12+ €118.39 Euros

Ebay.de----------€34.52 + 17.15 Shipping---------------2 x 5ltrs of G12+ €51.67 Euros

Saving €28 Euros on local VW, and a saving of €66 on Brickwerks price, but mainly due to weight/shipping. If Only I was in the UK, I would of popped round and met Simon, and Michael, oh well. Will also have a spare 2ltrs left over too with the ebay.de purchase.

If anyone else outside the UK is interested, heres the link..

You should be able to go to a local motor factors and get coolant. If I was you I would get G12++ as this is compatible with the earlier blue type coolants. G12+ isn't and can turn your coolant to wallpaper paste. I did this to make sure, as you can never completely empty the coolant system (well without a lot of effort anyway)
I'll see if I can find a link to one.
There is no problem using the older blue type, you just need to change it every couple of years

On the advice from the wiki, both here, and Brickyard, along with Brickwerks selling G12+ Ive purchased the G12+ now, which should be fine.

My cooling system is completely just water, as I had a water leak when I purchased it, and have since flushed it for over an hour or so with an hose, and fitted new metal cooling pipe, and refilled, and bled, and it water tight now. Just need to drain 8ltrs of water, and refill with 8ltrs of coolant.

If your bus is prone to leaks then blue anti-freeze isn't as painful on the wallet as you watch it drip on the floor
