Wishbone bushes

Post by lhd »

Picking up some new bushes from Vanfest (Brickwerks).
I read on Brickwerks website this......

"Please be aware that VW stipulate that there must be no, or very little lateral movement between the bush and the eccentric washer [.5mm to be exact]."

Now I seem to have at least 4mm between the old ones and the washers on both sides of the wisbone, I even managed to slide a 4mm 2WD washer into the gaps so may even be 5mm.

I dont know whether the present bushes are original or pattern part so this maybe why I have so much of a gap, :?
I take it the original washers are 4mm, so is it ok to put two different size washers together to make up the difference if need be?
By the look of the washers on brickwerks they are different to the 2wd ones or I would have used the 2WD ones to make up the size difference.

I have changed these on 2WD which was pretty easy and managed to keep the alighnment spot on, even got them checked afterwards.
I know on the 2WD the bush extended out a lot further from the wishbone but then these are completely different wishbones.
The bushes do seem to be in about as far as they can go, can anyone remember how far their bushes protruded out from the arm?

After reading through the Wiki I though my problems would be the other way round, as in no gap and having to get smaller washers. :?

Many thanks Rob.

the bit in your piccie that looks like a gap isn't, it's the inner sleeve of the bush pressed up against the eccentric washer, inner sleeve is longer than outer part

just checked on mine that's correct

Can Syncro ones be fitted using a vice as in the 2WD?
