Camping gaz 907 to Calor propane swap?

I've been reading through the wiki where it gives a lot of good info, but, whats involved, apart from the relevant regulator, to swap from Gaz 907's to Calor 4.5/6 kgs? Would I need to alter the burners on the 'fridge, hob & grille or are they ok as -is?

Reason I'm thinking this is the very high cost of 907's against propane, plus of course propane will gas-off in minus degree figues whereas butane wont.

Any ideas welcome

Just the regulator. As far as I know the appliances will run off either.

Main problem is acomodating the larger propane bottle which usually requires altering the furniture.

I think - need to do a measure up first - that the slimmer cylinder will fit where the 2 907s currently live. or, I could perhaps plumb it in under the back seat. I'll have a decco and see what will work.

Just for the record, 4.5kg is a Butane bottle. The equivalent propane is 3.8kg.

I did this a couple of years ago and it works out WWwwwaaayyyyy cheaper

Plus of course you don't have to faff around changing them as often.

I have to unbolt the "ring" around the top of the bigger bottles to get them in my gas cupboard, no problem, just 3 nuts & bolts, keep em safe for when you want to buy the next bottle.

No worries. I only know because I swapped mine the other day ready for winter.

They're exactly the same size but I think Propane's must be thinner than Butane's because they can squish more into the bottle. Or maybe Butane's are fatter than Propane's and there's the same amount in there but the Butane's weigh more.

Butane is denser than propane, so I would expect less butane in the same volume size container, or, the butane cylinder will be bigger for the same weight of propane (note never say bottles, pop comes in bottles!)

Calor Butane & Propane are the same dimensions, just different mass of gas inside.

4.5kg of Butane or
3.9kg of Propane.

The energy content per kg of the two gases is nearly identical, and the propane refills are only fractionally cheaper than propane.

So... Butane is the best buy, but is more problematic when it's very cold.

budget gas is a few quid cheaper than calor too,bottles are same size but you get 8.3 budget opposed to 7.5 calor for less dosh!
