I appear to have a greasy front wheel.
I wash the car and wheels and they come up nice and shiny-ish but the off-side front wheel is a real bugger to get clean. It appears to have some sort of grease on it which I can only get off with something like parrafin. It does not appear to be brake dust and always comes back soon after washing.
Does anyone have any clues?
thanks
Chris

Re: Greasy front wheel
1. Check for brake fluid leaks, first.
2. make sure the off side brake calliper is not binding and making the wheel hot and melting the grease in the bearing, which will spread itself over the wheel with centrifugal force.
3. Is the grease cap secure?

Hi
I get this sometimes as well, usually on a long journey. Had the wheel checked but all found to be ok.
I wondered if it had something to do with grease coming out of speedo cable?

Re: Greasy front wheel
Hi, this happened to me it turned out to be the brake caliper locking up and getting hot and melting the grease in the bearing which then in turn started to get thrown up the wheel. hope you get it sorted.

If brake fluid leak it may bubble the paint on the rim?
Grease will collect dust on surface but come clean(ish) when washed but collect dust again.
