GEARS GO IN OK WITH ENGINE NOT RUNNING??????????????SEEM TO GET A KNOCKING/CLICKING SOUND FROM HOUSING AREA........WHEN CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED WITHOUT ENGINE RUNNING
You'll always get a bit of noise engaging gears with the engine not running (although if you put it into gear, pull it back out again, then put it back into the same gear it shouldn't make much noise.
Actually, just rereading that, do you mean you get a noise when you depress the clutch with the engine off, or when you try and put it in gear?
What happens when you try and get reverse with the engine running?
Could be the guides in the lever box worn ... someone was remanufacturing them on here I believe ? Did this suddenly start happening ? When did you last change the gearbox oil ? May not hurt to drop the oil and see what's on the old magnet of doom

What happens when you try and select reverse with the engine running?
If you get a nasty graunching sound, then I'd suggest the clutch is dragging a bit. Reverse will be the only gear that doesn't have a synchroniser, so if anything is spinning in the gearbox it won't want to go in.
If you just don't get anything happening, then I'd start by looking at the linkage itself.
hi there dash.
i can get it in gear now with engine running/ but can feel something catching through the clutch pedal.
its when the clutch pedal is about half way down..., i get a noise coming from near where slave cyl is attached, almost as if there is something catching the arm inside???????
1 man or 2 man job on this to remove???
thanks

would it be an idea to remove slave cyl to see if i still get noise................thinking it may be the pedal????
