when the holes cut and flared as original they are stronger stiffer than straight sheet, it helps decrease weight as well and cost as the punched out bits are all recycled, same as inner wing areas etc, on its own not a lot but times 100,000 units it adds up , IMHO

if you fold the lower lip of the door and weld it,it will strengthen it so it can be placed down if taken off..if you leave it like that it will bend easily..and the dog wont thank you for trapping his tail in it

yeah proberbly is condensation but if the holes are there itll let airflow to it rather than just sitting in there

i usually have a soaking wet hand towel on standby for fires..but i do get a bit excited sometimes and forget

Just finished reading your whole thread here Jon, and have to say, fair play mate! Well done on tackling these jobs with the help of Mike too of course. My Syncro is pretty solid, but one rear arch was repaired in haste for our version of the UK MOT, and its not perfect, but will do for a while. I do plan on replacing the whole panel like yourself, and currently being taught how to weld by my father in law.

Keep up the great work, and I will look forward to your progress
