Is this what is meant by a van running like clockwork?

Yes exactly that, timpsons do watch batteries and for a little bit extra you can get a lifetime guarantee on them.

In theory yes, but you should never mix different types of battery, or remove the batteries from a smoke alarm, it might save your life one day.

Do you know if there's a timpsons in York? Would I be ok with 160 batteries to run my kettle?

I believe you can run your kettle with enough watch batteries but as they are DC and the kettle needs alternating current you will need to turn it on and off dead quick while it boils!

Voltages more or less the same, its the rate at which each delivers this voltage that sets them apart. Yes you can use ordinary battery instead of leisure but it'll go flat a darned site quicker. Frankly there's a world of difference and I've run with both. Truck batts are usually 24volt so no comparison.

You can usually mount watch batteries any way up you like otherwise the currents would fall out when you put you hand in your pocket!

Spoon jar jar, spoon jar.....have I just entered another dimension?

Sutton Auto Factors ....in Nottingham
County Battery supplies
Boothby's
Maybe Nottingham trailer supplies if you want it to be specifically a leisure battery.

It's not the voltage that is different (between a lorry and a car) it's the overall amp hour rating (current)
A lorry typically has two 12 volt batteries linked in series making the output 24volts but these are normally very heavy duty 120-150ah not your typical 54ah car batteries.
