GKN CV Kit washer/clip thing

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what or where the shaped/dished washer thing is for or where it goes?

In the picture attached its the part on its own on the right hand side.

I know that the other two items are boot small end securing clip and driveshaft retaining circlip. I dont recall seeing or removing a dished washer on strip down.

You dont need that bit I dont think on the rears. If I remember right you pop it on the shaft before you put the cv joint on the front inners or something. I think I may of put them on the rears too though in the past and they have been fine, but if its not on the one you have taken off I wouldnt bother if it was me.

I believe they are for Golf shafts and similar....anything with a stepped shoulder on the shaft, and sit as you said, behind the joint. (not looked at the fronts yet). The Bentley Bible does not show them for T25 rears. I have not used them and they have assembled fine. I will see how the perform....but i'm not worrying.
