2.0l Aircool CU pushrod tube seals.

Post by Footprint »

I suspect this may be common knowledge, but for anyone that doesn't know:

Pattern outer pushrod seals, (cylinder head end), for CU 2.0l aircool engines are commonly too small and do not seal effectively or sometimes do not seal at all.
Some that I got did were small enough to not even contact the inside of the cylinder head recess all the way around, but this was not imedialtely obvious as when fitting the tube there was significant resistance provided by the inner end seal, making the fact that the outer seals didn't engage correctly not immediately apparent.

OE VW seals are the only effective ones I have found, all the OE ones I have seen are green, all the pattern parts I have seen are black.

Hello,

I quite agree.

I was most disappointed by the short life of these seals on Pistachio's engine rebuild.

Bought from Serial Kombi in Feb this year.

Can you please post the part number, as VW France is completely unhelpful in this respect,

They have NO info prior to '98

Cordialement,

Outer seal, the larger of the two, seals tube to cylinder head, part number: 021109349B
Inner seal, the smaller one, seals tube to crankcase, part number: 021109345A

Thanks for the part numbers. I've been having constant problems and will try to get these from VW Classicparts
