Gearshaft bellows

Post by Tug »

Hi all,

Been doing quite a bit of work on the van as of late..

The question I have is..I have fitted some new Bellows on the selector shaft..(The part that bolts to the gearbox). I greased up the shaft and fitted the bellows..however the gearchange is a little restrictive going in to 1st and 3rd..The thought that has sprung into my mind is that will this put strain on the selector fork in the box as the gearchange does not feel positive now in these two gears..well to me it dont..

Do u think im being over careful ?

5 sp, you dropped the bracket and fitted the bellows and grease and then refitted ?
did you put the bracket back on the correct side?

Yep..

Put back as it was..it appears the bellows are a little restrictive..drove it today and it seams ok..
