touching up a high-top roof

Post by janieh »

Hi All

Just wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way to touch up my fibreglass high top roof. There is a bit of damage to the corners of my roof, I think it's just probably the effects of UV and the coating has started to flake away. I'd like to touch it up to prevent further damage, but don't really want to repaint the whole roof.

I've seen quite a few mentions of using Rustoleum on here, and am trying to work out which would be the best paint. Is the combicolour that everyone uses for the bodywork also the best thing for fibreglass? Thing is, our roof is a deep red and I'm not sure we'll get a good match (I've looked at RAL3000 but think it's probably too bright.)

Alternatives I've considered are this rustoleum clear coating which would protect it and not change the colour,

or I could use the Rustoluem plastic primer and then cover up with the matching metal paint I already have.

Any comments on which would be the best idea?
cheers
