Replace fuel pump

Post by orridge »

[attachment=0]The Old Gal.jpg[/attachment 1981 T25 air cooled CU. 2Lt.
Can anyone please advise on a correct electronic fuel pump as a replacement to broken mechanical fuel pump?
My problem is fuel starvation, fuel flows from tank up to fuel pump inlet so it was suggested to bypass and fit an electronic pump closer to the tank. Has anyone used a Facet- purulator or Facet solid state pump from Empi ? if these are ok the solution could be less than £30 quid away.
Very grateful for any tech help on this am keen to go to seaside.

There is an electrical fuel pump been fitted to mine, but it makes a horrible, and annoying clicking sound so Im replacing it with this..

Thanks for your advice, clicking sounds worrying, will try the EMPI electronic pump as now ordered. I didnt want to drop the engine out again and remove the tinware so I Thought the bypass solution a good one.

Will let you all know how it went! :roll: :ok

I just replaced my GSF pump after 1 year with this beauty from brickweks. As good if not a lot better than the original VW pump.

The mechanical pump is unobtainable new, so the only option is to fit an electric pump.
