1.6td, idles ok but no throttle
I have a 1.6td that won't accelerate - it starts ok, idles fine but get nothing at all when I press the accelerator. It started as an intermittent fault. The throttle cable is still pulling the throttle. Anyone any ideas?

Re: 1.6td, idles ok but no throttle
Thanks Titus,
I can see two fuel feed pipes (intake hoses?) - does one of them do the idle and the other is to accelerate? The engine is running smooth at idle and the throttle is doing nothing at all when I press it, not even a lumpy acceleration...

The fuel pipes you can see are flow to the pump & return fuel back to the fuel tank.Check the spindle where the throttle arm to the accelarator cable is and by hand turn the arm to see if the spindle moves with the arm.The spindle has fine splinesthat locate into the throttle arm & should be tight by a nut.

Cheers Camper - just been out to try that but the spindle seems to be engaging fine so the problem is somewhere after that in the throttle linkage or pump?

Thanks peeps - turns out it was the fuel filter - apparently had some contamination in the tank. Back on the road! Off to the Isle of Wight...
