Any decent but basic sites within 30 miles of Brighton?

Post by daschmoo »

Evening All!

Was wondering if anyone could recommend any campsites within 30 miles or so of Brighton? The sis-in-law wants to go camping for her birthday with a few friends (all tenters) and would like us to go... but all of the sites they usually go to are tents only or fully booked now!

We only need a simple site...

Toilets (and showers if poss but not essential)
Fire pits allowed
Dogs
Not too many kids as we will be an all adult group

Any suggestions welcomed :ok

We stayed at a lovely little site in Alfriston last weekend... gorgeous little village with a little shop (pricey but lovely!!).. basic but clean showers and toilets, you can have a bonfire (off the ground) and plenty of space for vans... we only stayed one night but it was great!! very quiet.. lots of families but no noise after 10!!! would definitely recommend it!!

Alfriston Camping park..

Park Farm near Bodium

We went there on May bank holiday and it was brilliant. There were loads of vans and even a wedding party. I've never seen so many fires and parties going on. They encourage fires (they sell you the wood) and the facilities are very good. 20 minute walk along a river to the pub. Obviously, the vibe depends on who is there, but I should think this bank holiday should be good.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I give Caravan Club recommended sites a wide berth. We stayed at one in Norfolk a few months ago, 5 stars. The rules were so stupid, and the people so miserable, they were mainly in permanent caravans (their cars didn't even have tow bars) we left after two nights. For example, the nearest pub is two miles away, but they shut the gate at 9:00 pm and you can't get back on site!

Anyway, try this site, it's great.
I have got my foot down!
