Aircooled experts in Staffordshire anyone?!!

Post by soulsoulsista »

Hi fellow T25ers!

Our beloved 1980 Aircooled petrol Betty Blue is seriously poorly. She went in to my local garage to fix her stalling and misfiring problem (common I gather), the guys just increased her revs and she ran, but racing like crazy and we managed 7 miles on a tenner's worth of petrol before running out! EEk! But worse, she was still in the garage whilst they tried to figure it and was involved in a fire. She is now being resprayed and all melted bits being replaced. We are devastated but she should be back soon looking like her old self. However, our mechanic really doesn't know what to do to fix her original stalling problem. We know that the fuel filter is fine. She just won't idle at normal revs. We think it might be carb related but me and my fella are not good enough (yet!) to fix it. Please please does anyone know of a decent Aircooled mechanic round our way at all? We are based in Leek in the Staffordshire Moorlands.

All advice welcome! And special mention of thanks to member Dugcati from this club who donated a front grill to us last weekend.

here's hoping..

Sarah

As stated steve shaw is your man.i reckon it would cost you around £100 to hire a transporter to get it to chester from leek.It cost me about £70 from macc a couple of years back.I have the guys number should you need it.You could always "break down" on your way to chester though. And have to use your breakdown company. To get you the rest of the way
