Will 3 way fridge work ok just on mains hook up?

Post by Big Bear »

Hopefully someone can help me. I'm new to all this camper lark and after a bit of advice. I've bought a caravelle which has an interior out of another camper part fitted but does not (as yet) have a leisure battery or gas vents etc. Does have gas but only connected to the cooker. Is it possible to run my fridge as a temporary measure just on mains into a RCD protected hook up cable?
Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

Yes but allow air to circulate around the the cooling matrix at the back and obviously be careful with access to the electrical connections etc

Cool. Thank you. Im gonna take the fridge out and check it over before I use it as the guy I bought from the van from has said it works fine but it hasn't been used for a few years.

Since you're taking it out anyway, turn it upside down for 24 hours. Lets the 'goo' inside mix up a bit - never a bad idea if a fridge has been left idle for a appreciable length of time.

Don't expect it to cool as quickly as a domestic compressor fridge. It takes a while for the process to get up and running - and it's silent in case you didn't already know.
